About Us

Tor Bank is a Controlled, Special School opened in 1968. It is situated beside the Ulster Hospital on the Upper Newtownards Road opposite the Moat Park. Tor Bank is a School for pupils with severe learning difficulties.

The school is under the control of a Board of Governors who assist the Principal and the Management Team in the management of finance, staffing, the curriculum and all aspects of school life.

In the present site off a main building and 9 mobiles, a strong community spirit is maintained as pupils and staff continue to look forward to having a new school which will be located in the grounds of Dundonald High School. At present bidders are putting forward ideas and designs which begin to interpret what we want and need. We feel excited that at long last a "state of the art school is around the corner".
