PRINCIPAL’S ADDRESS

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Tor Bank School’s Website. My name is Colm Davis and I have been Principal at Tor Bank since September 2002.

I feel privileged to be able to share with you the good practice of this highly regarded School and hope that this website gives you some insight into the ethos and philosophy which enables the Pupils to achieve their full potential within a community in which they are expected to live and work.

We are fast becoming a leading edge school in the field of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the Multi-sensory Curriculum, the Management of Challenging Behaviours, Extended Learning Programmes and the Early Years Curriculum for children with Severe Learning Difficulties.

The Education provided within the Tor Bank Community is available from the age of three through to adulthood (19 years). We are very fortunate to have a well-trained, highly motivated and dedicated staff team to design and implement individual education programmes to meet the complex needs being presented by our Pupils.

A multidisciplinary team of professionals – Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists and School Nurse – also work collaboratively alongside our Teachers and Classroom Assistants to ensure that the ‘holistic’ needs of each Pupil is met effectively.

As a community we work also in partnership with Parents and Governors to realise our philosophy, ‘To create a happy, secure and stimulating learning environment in which all members of the school community feel valued and able to reach their individual potential’.
